Hikes

Sorry I have been gone for way to long but I am back and like I've said before I will try to keep on top of it. So what have I been up to or the family for that matter. We have been doing lots of stuff especially me. My husband is currently deployed defending our country in Iraq. So in order to keep busy for the next year I have taken up hiking and running. And with that said I'd like to share some pictures of my hikes that I have done here in Hawaii. The first hike that I did was back in September maybe of Maka Pu'u Light house. It's not a real hike it's more of a trail that you follow and it is paved so easy that me and the girls ended up doing it the second time I went so fairly easy to do.

Trail coming back down Maka Pu'u Light house
This is the Light house you see once you reach the top. (Beautiful View)
The next hike I did was back in September it was Diamond Head and oh my goodness did I want to quit after the second set of stairs.  I was really out of shape I had not been running or doing any sort of activity so yes it hit me and hit me hard that afterward when I got home I ended up with a killer migraine. Light and noise would bother me and not even a cold shower helped so I ended up taking an Excedrine and took me a nap and that seemed to do the trick.

The Dreaded stairs(but not so bad second time around)
View coming down.
The view once you reach to the top of Diamond Head!!

A friend here recently asked me to go with her again on the hike to Diamond Head I dreaded the hike thinking it was going to be the same end results. The only difference is that I had been running off and on so I was a little more in shape this time around so in shape that me and my friend ended up doing the hike in an hour or so and then somewhere in our little brains we decided to go and do Koko Head.
Koko head I have been wanting to do since I took up running and hiking and pretty much since I lost all my weight. But that is the dreaded hike that everyone talks about here on the island. It is an old set of rail road tracks that go up a mountain that they used back in the days to transport military members and supplies to the top of the mountain. Now for what I have no idea only thing I can think of is to keep watch from the Japanese I am assuming who knows.

So anyways, back to what I was saying we decided to drive up to Koko Head and just take a look at it and see if we can just go up half way. Oh and the total of stairs it has is I believe somewhere 1048 well there will be a picture of how many stairs I had to climb to the top. Yea right we are only going to go half way if I am going half way and already in pain I might as well finish it .....and that we did. I have to say it was the best experience ever I am so glad that we ended up doing it.
First step

As you are climbing to the top.

reached 200 stairs!! ( we were still ok)

by this time we were thinking what are we doing but still ok.

When we turned around and saw this we thought very worth it.

By this time we were definitely huffing and puffing and thinking what were we getting ourselves into.
Then we finally saw the last step and we were so proud of ourselves.

So freaken glad we had made it to the top. Shannon and I.

Now we have to go back down. That was not as easy as going up.

Posing for the camera. CHEESE!!

And now I want to do it all over again but I would like to video record every step (well not every step) of the way up so that people can experience it with me via video and see how tough it is. Well tough for those who are not in shape because there some people just running up the stairs like nothing I just so wanted to push them off the rail road tracks.
